Overall a good book to help Instructors, Faculty and new Instructional Technologist with limited to mid-level Moodle Knowledge.Pictures are represent what you expect to see in Moodle from a faculty member's perspective to allow you to build your course and get it up online ready to go.Chapter 1 - Developing an effective Online Course -- Provides some reasoning on why and how regarding Moodle and teaching. It could provide Instructional Designers a reference to provide faculty who are questioning the process and over all course design.The book covers a wide variety of areas to assist the course development process and more importantly how you will then use the course to teach effectively to students. It doesn't get to far into the weeds so if you need that level of fidelity then this isn't the best book for you (Experienced Moodle users moving from 2.x to 3.x version). Additionally, if you're experienced the beginning of each chapter on a bit of instructional design/pedagogy might put you off. I personally like the reminders as an Faculty Developer and Educational Technologist. Sometimes you just need to review the how and why to get better.I like how the author has gotten into Workshops and Portfolios, two the least used modules I've seen implemented by faculty at 3 decent sized institutions. She provides explanations on why and how to use these sections to get most every one started and follow ups with examples on how to use them to further the learner's engagementIt's a good starter book for Moodle course design and implementation. Don't count on reading cover to cover in a day or so. But each chapter allows the reader the ability to jump to an area you need assistance with.

Susan does a superb job at kickstarting anyone into using Moodle effectively for teaching an learning. Rather than presenting inert, abstract information, Susan situates all Moodle functionality into a teaching/learning framework. Her writing is exceptional and goes into enough depth to fully grasp key concepts and to apply into your own student population and practice. This is an excellent resource for anyone in k12, higher ed, workplace training, and non-profits to begin using Moodle for teaching and learning fairly quickly. There are a lot of videos and resources available for free online, however the way she contextualizes Moodle tools and functionality within specific teaching examples is incredibly helpful. This is by far one of the most succinct and clear overviews on this subject that I have ever encountered. It provides great information on the significance of 1 Enoch and even dives into textual issues that are debated. Information is current and relevant for anyone that wants to study intertestamental literature and the New Testament.I recommend this book to people that are serious about jumping into texts that rose from Jewish apocalypticism. It literally helped me so much to begin to wade through it all. John J. Collins is one of the best scholars on the book of Daniel and he brings that knowledge to the table constantly throughout the book.

A very balanced presentation of the apocalyptic material. Collins handles the Jewish source materials in their original contexts and assesses them fairly for meaning and theological/eschatological intent. He is not afraid to handle the christian apocalypse of Revelation without either seeking to use it to critique its Jewish sources or using them to critique it. This book is not polemical and a great introduction to the apocalyptic corpus.

John Collins provides an excellent introduction of Jewish apocalyptic literature, vital to better understanding of Christian apocalyptic such as the book of Revelation. An intriguing read for anyone trying to deepen their understanding of New Testament apocalyptic literature.

I read this book some years ago (in the 80s or 90s, I think), and it was one of the most important books I have ever read for me personally. Reading the non-canonical apocalyptic literature (which Collins guided me through with The Apocalyptic Imagination and other of his works) that came from the time of the canonical apocalyptic passages (Daniel, Revelation, and others) enabled me to say that the canonical stuff was the same sort of thing as the non-canonical stuff and not something sui generis that should be interpreted in some special, non-historical way, as if it had dropped from heaven and had an origin entirely different from the non-canonical literature. In The Apocalyptic Imagination I felt I had a trustworthy guide through the entire tradition, canonical and non-canonical. I am using The Apocalyptic Imagination as one of two required textbooks for a course I am currently teaching at Northern Kentucky University entitled "Apocalyptic Visions and World Religions."

Few can experience a long stay on this island, but no nature lover should fail to visit this place and see a nearly undeveloped barrier island larger than Manhattan. This book is a true souvenir of my visit, and the tour led by the author.

Such a great book, I bought a second copy for family before their trip to Cumberland. It's full of gorgeous photographs and written in such a way that I believe anyone interested in barrier islands, especially Cumberland Island, would enjoy it. I highly recommend this book!

Item was purchased as a Christmas gift. Beautiful photographs, good price, and enjoyed very much by the friends who spent their honeymoon on Cumberland. A great momento for them.

I recently returned from a visit to Cumberland Island and I had already purchased and admired all of the photos in the book. When I returned from my trip I again looked at the book and it made the island come alive again in my mind. The photographer has captured the entire essence of Cumberland Island and brings it to life. The book gives a preview of all of the things the island has to offer: wildlife of every description and vegetation scenery that takes you back in geologic time before man set foot on the island. The photos in the book show the diverse creatures such as deer (including 2 white ones); alligators, racoons, wild turkeys, bobcats, birds, waterfowl, armadillos, pigs and wildhorses (not native to the island) etc. The diverse vegetation and wildlife is featured by seasons in the book. The photographer is a wildlife expert and also gives tours to the guests of the incredible and comfortable Greyfield Inn. Buy the book and then go see the island!

A gorgeous reflection of what the island excels in. Mr. Whitehead's photographs beautifully depict the nature of and on the island. When I can't be there, I fantasize through this book.

This book was required for my beginners photography class so I rented it for the class. I found it so helpful that I decided to purchase it once the class was over. It's a very useful resource. I like that it has pictures of how the photo would turn out in various settings to accomplish specific effects. I'm glad it's a permanent part of my library now!

I have a BFA in Photography from SCAD, and I've been an active photographer for more than 15 years. Recently a good friend of mine asked me to teach her about photography and create a photo curriculum for her self study. Henry Horenstein authored many of the books I referenced when I took intro classes many years ago, so I was very happy to find this contemporary intro level text geared toward digital photography.The book covers the basic intro level information that one would expect- lens focal length, aperture, depth of field, shutter speed, equivalent exposure, basic lighting principles, ect. The book omits film and darkroom techniques, instead focusing on info relevant to digital photography- custom functions of the digital SLR, uploading and file management, editing, printing, ect.As with Horenstein's other books, the content was clearly written and easy to understand. If you are brand new to photography and are looking for a good overall manual that will teach you how to use your digital SLR and how to get out of the "P for Professional" mentality, then this book is for you.

This is by far the most useful photography manual that I have read. I constantly refer back to it.
