I am still working with this book. The story of Magician Blaise and his creation Gala is entertaining. Blaise is a magician who believes that magic should not just be in the hands of an elite few. His girl friend, sorceress, Augusta does not agree. She leaves him. Left on his own he creates a living human being from the "Capture Vitales," a container that captures the living souls of other human beings. His experiment is successful beyond all expectations and he discovers the powers and the dangers of magic. It's a great way to learn french, especially if the grammar basics have been mastered. The chapters are in french and then are repeated in English, so that retention can be assessed. I find I am better with every chapter. Reading out loud seems to be essential for me to have it be retained on a deep level. I recommend this as an entertaining way to become fluent in French.

This book is for a more advanced reader than I, but I am enjoying it...slowly. The vocab is what trips me up most. The kindle dictionary and translations are mostly accurate. Some are literal translations that don't work very well. I also use a French-French dictionary.

I love it. Now I just need to actually spend time reading it.

An interesting way to learn French. The story is pretty entertaining as well.

A strong point of this book is that it is bilingual. Another good point is that the vocabulary that it covers is interesting. A weak point is that it is arranged in alternating chapters of French and English, so if you need to look up a word, you will need to page ahead or back quite a few pages to do it. Bilingual formats are difficult to execute on the Kindle platform, but the layout could be improved by alternating between paragraphs, rather than sentences.As far as I can tell, the book seems to have been written in English, and then translated into French. It would be useful to know whether or not the book was translated by a native speaker.
