This little book almost made me not buy it , but I saw the five stars and gave it a try . I used a bias with one reference point , reviews lol . This book was little but it said SO MUCH . I will definitely be studying this book and dissecting the information repeatedly . Buy this book !! But of course don't act quick. research it because u want to buy it without bias lol .

You never think your being basis toward something or someone until you read this book. It sheds a good and bright light on a lot of daily thought pattern behaviors I have. The info was simple but powerful I think it is worth the read hopefully this little passage will motivate someone to check it out.

My God, this woman can write!It's all here: scandal, honesty, brutal words, delicate words. Sentences that take your breath away. Definitely not a beach read, but a book with great depth.

You know the saying about potato chips “bet you can’t eat just one!”? Well, don’t eat potato chips while reading this book. For starters potato chip grease gets on the pages, which is a pet peeve of mine. But, more importantly you will not be able to stop reading chapter after chapter and your stomach can’t handle all those chips. This can definitely be a one sitting book read.If you are looking for a book to start your summer off right: this here is your jam!As a teenager, Evelyn Hugo knew she wanted bigger and better things than Hell’s Kitchen. Her mom dreamed of Hollywood, and after her death Evelyn would do everything in her power to make her mom’s dream her own. She married her first husband to get her to Hollywood and the next six to keep her there.You only knew what she set up to tell you; only a few knew the real Evelyn. At the age of 79 she is ready to tell all and hires an unknown journalist, Monique Grant, to do the telling. Why now? Why Monique? And, what the public wants to know is out of the seven, who was the love of her life? Well that I will not tell you: you need to read the book!It was an addicting, brilliantly written story. Author Taylor Jenkins Reid reeled me in: hook, line and sinker. This is the first and certainly not the last book I will read by her.

Taylor Jenkins Reid knocked this one out of the ball park and into the parking lot as far as I'm concerned!! What an amazing, excellent story of an even more exciting, extraordinary, vibrant, woman!!Evelyn was 14 when she made her way to Hollywood she knew what she wanted and she went after it with all she was worth. She had Grit! She also had Seven Husbands, and one daughter, and one Great Love!!You have to admire a lot about what a woman or women of Evelyns generation went through because they're the ones who were the trail blazers for the stars of today. The women who work in that industry now I hope they thank those women from that Golden Era.The one thing going into this book that did surprise me about Evelyn was how it revolves around her sexuality. I didn't expect this but it was done tastefully I have to say. There was nothing vulgar about how it was written about it, Reid was very tasteful.I experienced the full gamut of emotions with this story from joy, tears, frustration, sadness, anger. But its a piece of art in my opinion. Thanks Taylor Jenkins Reid for sharing your talent and heart and soul. I highly recommend this book to adults 21+

When she meets Evelyn, she discovers Evelyn wants more than a simple article, she wants to tell her life story to Monique for a biography. And Monique is getting the story exclusively.“I’ve spent a very long time learning how to spin the truth. It’s hard to undo that wiring.”I absolutely loved this story! Taylor Jenkins Reid has this uncanny ability to suck you into the lives of her characters and never let you go. They feel so utterly genuine, I felt as if I was a part of their lives instead of an outsider reading about them. Reid also does an amazing job developing her characters, I was rooting for all of them to get what they want and to achieve their goals.I never really know what to expect when I dive into a book by Reid, but I can honestly say this book was full of surprises and twists I didn’t see coming. This book spans from the 1950’s to the present day, and we get to know all of the loves of Evelyn’s life. Evelyn herself was enchanting, I found myself fascinated by her life story, her choices and her perseverance. While love was a motivating factor, to me this was mostly a story about success and survival. Evelyn was always going to do what it takes to be a star and stay at the top, and she would fight for what she wanted.Hollywood and the film industry can be a ruthless place but it can also be one where greatness can be achieved for the lucky ones. I think Reid captured the industry and the time periods this story took place in perfectly.This is one of the best books I’ve read all year and I think if you go into it with an open mind and a kind heart, you’ll fall in love with this book like I did.“If you love someone enough, you should be able to overcome anything.”

However, my average rating reflects how this book made me feel.Parts were great, parts were boring, overall it was meh. After the forth or fifth? marriage, it was like Groundhog Day.For me to be invested in a story, I need to care about at least one of the main characters. That didn't happen in this instance.

Zavrel presents essential fundamental theory and explanation that underpins all of the practical antenna designs found in the many amateur radio texts. The mathematics is straightforward and even the explanation of Maxwell's equations is understandable and useful and shouldn't be an obstacle to anyone with an interest in radio communications and antennas. I really like this book and the author's style.

I have several very thorough books and resources that explain antenna theory, but even the best of them are missing the mark by writing in a style that's sometimes hard for the layman to comprehend. This book has a lot of science in it, but is very easy to "get" and also goes into the math some, if that's what you like. It doesn't have "projects", but will give you a solid understanding and practical design info if you really want to understand how antennas actually do what they do!

Everything you ever wanted to know about antennas and how they work. Not for the math-challenged, but the author does a good job of taking some of the mystery out of that, too. I guarantee you'll never look at your antenna the same way again.

Kindle, especially on windows handles the formulas badly. I ordered the paper book for this reason and will give that five stars. In over 40 years of interest, I've never seen a text this good on the subject. It is "Introductory" once one understands just how far the topic goes. Other books that could be considered introductory, leave out the science and math or use analogy that can be misleading. Either that or they are simply cook books for various types of antennas. This one explains the physics from fundamentals and does it better than any other. However, it is by no means light reading. The book is written so that one can gloss over the math and understand the overall ideas. This is what makes it really introductory. The book derives practical equations from James Clerk Maxwell's calculus but one can just use the practical equations without diving deep into Maxwell. So it is introductory relative to the overall subject of electromagnetism from electrical circuits, but that may be more than some are ready for. Just give it a go. Even if you don't master it, you will learn a lot.

A little dry, but overall, a good read. Lots of good information inside. I really enjoyed digging in to how the physics of an antenna work. I think once I've read it again a couple times, it will really help me with future antenna plans and with understanding NEC modeling.

Downside first...Several typos and grammatical issues. I can live with it, should be corrected in revisions. Seems like the author got tongue tied.I would have made ch 10 one of the first chapters. My preference as the review put calculus in a frame of understanding is better at times than learning how to. Wish more high school math teachers would try this. When I teach, I advise the students I do not want them to do any math, I just want them to understand....after presenting the concept they breeze thru a Q&A session and come up with the answer. Sometimes teachers unknowingly make things harder.

This is a very readable text on a subject that can be complex and difficult. I'm only about a fourth of the way through it but it has helped with providing an understanding of the antenna from the standpoint of aperture.

I’ve yet to finish, liking what I’ve read so far, but must mention, the equations in the Kindle version are, too small to read with the naked eye; very frustrating.

A book that changed my life! I used to have herpes on my lips since I was 8 y.o. For almoast a year I keep the immune boosting diet (lots lots lots of vegetables and fruits, juices, some meat and fish, NO SUGAR-only honey when needed, only Coconut and Olive oils for cooking and salads, NO SODAS) and use my DMSO 3 days a month treatments (order on amazon.com) + everyday water consuption with Oxygen Force drops (order from official website) and there`s a notice of a huge progress! First I had a few outbreaks, when just started the program, but once in 2-3 months instead of monthly, and so far for half a year I`ve been entirely healthy, without annoying herpes ruining my life :) So happy!!!!! The cards are poorly aligned to the AP Chemistry Test.For instance:- Questions on nomenclature (not on AP Test)- Questions on identifying glassware (not on AP Test)- Questions on organic nomenclature (not on AP Test)- Questions on Bond Order (not on AP test)- Questions on Paramagnetism/Diamagnetism (not on AP Test, as molecular orbital theory is not on AP test either)I was hoping to get these as an additional resource for my students to review for the AP Test but they are not helpful

We used these in my AP Chem class. The students liked them and would sit and go through them voluntarily on their own. They are durable and had a lot of information. Good general knowledge but no complex math etc.

The cards don't ask multiple choice questions, instead they give the student a problem to solve, a definition, or a concept to explain. The explanations in the back are thorough. It also gave my daughter a chance to figure out what she didn't understand and made it possible for me to be able to help her study.

10/10 I'm memorizing 5 cards every day, I'll be done in about 3-5 months

Been a long-time fan of The Dollop ever since the Jackson Cheese episode was recommended to me by my best friend. I highly recommend the podcast to others, but some folks just don't listen to podcasts so I intend to throw this book at those people so they might understand some of the joy in learning about bananas stories from American history. The true stories in this book are condensed and still amusing tales covered in The Dollop episodes.I still highly recommend listening to The Dollop, as they cover some astoundingly racist aspects of our history that should be more prevalent in what we learn in school. This book doesn't delve into those episodes (possibly because those stories cannot be summed up in 2-3 page tales), so there is plenty to explore there.And James Fosdike's illustrations are wonderful. He just gets The Dollop.

I really love the Dollop podcast. I've heard every single episode they've released. So as a long time listener, I was excited to hear that they were publishing a book. The book itself is not so much aimed at current and on-going listeners of the podcast (such as myself) but more to people that haven't listened and are curious what it is about. Of all the stories in the book, only one of them was new (not previously discussed on an existing episode at the time of this writing). This was a bit disappointing but I still enjoyed rereading about the historical oddities that Dave & Gareth have previously covered.If you do listen to the podcast, you'll understand when I say that the stories contained within the book are Smallops, and very abbreviated Smallops at that. For the uninitiated, what I'm stating here is that each historical tale covered in the book is about some person or event or other form of subject. Within the span of a few pages, Dave & Gareth give you a fairly high-level essay about said subject matter. They have some quips to the reader injected here and there and a Fun Fact block at the end of each essay.This is a coffee-table book, a very easy read, and a conversation starter for the uninitiated. If you're a fan of the podcast, buy it and share it with your friends to whet their appetite for the full-sized versions of the story where Dave & Gareth go into the meaty details that they couldn't afford to stuff into this text.

If you listen to The Dollop, it's not really worth your time to read the book. It has a few dozen stories, all of which were told in a much more engrossing fashion on the podcast. Basically Dave, minus Gareth, minus most of the really entertaining details. I don't really fault them for doing this, and don't begrudge the opportunity for them to maybe reach out to a wider audience, but if you're a fan, this will be pretty disappointing.

Say you're a guy... who maybe doesn't like reading, and you tell your staff to only give you good news daily, and maybe your whole family will be going to jail, then this book isn't for you. As this book is filled with America's weird, silly, and.. sad stories of times past.If you enjoy the Dollop, then pick this up!

I have been a fan of The Dollop podcast since day one and it is still my favorite today. Dave and Gary are great hosts/comedians and I knew the book would not disappoint. For longtime fans this book is like having our favorite stories on hand at any time. For someone new to the world of The Dollop it is the perfect introduction. James Fosdike's illustrations give the stories extra depth and are even frame-worthy. Since I can't force my friends to sit down long enough to listen to the podcast I will be buying them copies of this book.

So happy that Dave and Gar(eth)y are sharing their greatness. Their show is fantastic, and this book serves to augment The Dollop with condensed versions of some of their highlits, with disturbingly beautiful artwork. Definitely 5 stars.If for no other reason, buy this book to support two great humans. I met them before and after the SLC show (I gave the guys directions to the venue), and they posed for pics and signed my José poster. All with no rush, nothing but kindness. Definitely two awesome guys.

I found out about The Dollop from listening to My Favorite Murder and it quickly became my favorite podcast. (Maybe tied for first place with You Talkin' U2 To Me?)I love the mix of The Dollop stories we know and love and new ridiculousness​ I've never heard of anywhere else.The stories are concise, sharp, and funny with a little bit of entertaining bonus trivia to wrap it up. There are new jokes and takes on the stories already on the podcast so each story feels freshly told.The artwork is amazing. I adore it. It's beautiful, which feels weird to say since it's also often bizarre and grotesque. But it is indeed very beautifully illustrated. It perfectly matches the tone of the subject.Also, this book is excellent even if you've never heard the podcast before. It's a great way to explain the podcast to a Dollop virgin.I love this book. I love the podcast. I love these guys.

Let me begin by saying, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. For those on the path of seeking, this book adds nicely to other literature in your library and is well worth the price.At first, I thought this book would be a great primer for those unfamiliar with esoteric concepts, but I'm not sure at this point, because it delves into some more advanced concepts that may be difficult to grasp for someone just picking this book off the shelf. There were definitely chapters that I sort of sped through, with a promise to come back and think about later. That being said, the fact that it's more of a story (an autobiography, really), than a textbook, makes it an incredibly enjoyable read. You become invested in an outcome and the lessons that the book teaches are more effectively translated because you ride along with the author as she learns those lessons.This book is similar to Aleph by Paulo Cuehlo in that it tells the tale of a personal experience of the author, dealing with past lives and lessons of the physical world and beyond. The exception being, this book really goes into depth about the secrets of mystical teachings, primarily from ancient Egypt; but showing how those teachings are universal, and alive and well in today's world, if one is persistent enough to search for them.All that being said, this is not a book I devoured in short order, primarily due to heavy subjects and, at times, my own struggle with the storyline and personal understandings. However, this book far surpassed my expectations based on some of the reviews. I thought this book was really going to challenge my beliefs, but instead gave me another complementary layer and perspective to add to my growing spiritual understanding. That understanding is that all is one, God is us and everything, we're spirits having a "physical" experience and that experience is to learn and grow in this school on Earth. This book will reinforce those concepts and add many details and perspectives to those concepts.All around a great book and a must read for those who have, at least, a basic grasp of esoteric teachings.One last comment... if Elisabeth Haich's past life memories are true (which I lean toward believing), you also get a history lesson on Ancient Egypt that you won't find in any textbook.

The packaging surrounding the author's ideas is very controversial. The author claims she is describing a past life experience. Supposedly she was initiated into the mystery school back in Egypt when the Great Pyramid was still fully operational. Honestly, whether you believe that or not is irrelevant. Instead, I ask that you ignore the grandiose wrapping and focus on what's in the box: what she actually says about the initiation process and reasons behind those ancient practices. The information there contains its own incredible merit.Let me clear here and just say that I've read a lot of esoteric lore, some of it utter bunk. This stuff, however, is prime real estate. I know this because the ideas in it coincide very well with multiple sources that have stood the test of time.Could she have just borrowed these ideas and slapped on her previous life story for extra attention? Well, sure. But don't make the mistake of thinking what she says about the mystery teachings is erroneous or empty handed. Because it's not. In fact, much of what she shares is so astoundingly profound in its simplicity and poetic subtleties that you can tell she is talking about something she has a deep appreciation and understanding of.You cannot understand this text yourself and grasp what I mean from a purely objective standpoint here. I'm sorry. I know many of you skeptics/cynics out there don't want to hear that. But it's true. You have to have the background experiences yourself to make the intuitive connections that show what she's saying is indeed accurate, which is a roundabout way of saying you have to be a kind of initiate yourself. To put it another way, the author is speaking a language few can hear.I also think this explains the myriad of comments here, many of which seem to like the book but then complain about certain parts. Because this text is littered with complex abstractions, terms few have a genuine sense for, it's really no surprise that there have been several misinterpretations and misunderstandings about what Elisabeth said.Regardless, I'm still forced to present a seemingly contradictory statement at this point and say that the book also presents esoteric teachings in a more accessible fashion. If you compare, for example, The Tibetan Book of the Dead to this book, you can sort of get what I mean here. The author adds a human element to the delivery that makes the teachings seem more familiar to many people, but the meanings remain muti-dimensional because--after all--that's the inherent nature of the ancient philosophy.Okay, so enough of the mystic slant. Let me end this review with a giddy heads up: If you pay close attention, you'll find some very astounding kernels of information. For example, she says that sometimes the pyramids would thunder and create lightning, even rain clouds. Electromagnetic elaborations aside that any meteorologist can appreciate, let's just consider for a moment the often discussed water erosion on the sides of the Sphinx. Perhaps this is another explanation for that anomaly? The elongated heads of the "Sons of God" mentioned in this book that was originally published in the 1960s are also fascinating when one considers the more recent discoveries about similar heads, namely that the DNA from those that were excavated in Peru do not match any known human DNA on record.There's more, lots more, but I'll leave the remaining dots for you to connect ...

a very fascinating read, but there are some weird racial ideas in this book that are questionable.

This is my all time favorite, second only to Autobiography of a Yogi. This book requires concentrated deliberation to read as the font is small and the information is huge. Not for light reading but for the soul searching beginner, or not, it's life changing..or maybe I should say 'remembering'..a great book, a must for the sincere seeker

Fantastic read about the initiation performed under the chamber below the Sphinx during the time of high-Egypt. So many insights about the divine nature of our soul and our history. Elisabeth Haich has definitely given us a unique insight in the epoch of the Pharaohs, packed with so fascinating description of her life in ancient Egypt. Much wisdom and knowledge to gain from the book about our origins and our soul's path.

This book transports the reader back into ancient Egypt, and inside the pyramids for Initiation ritual-and-instruction by the high priests of esoteric science. It is a worthy book for those on the path of enlightenment. It begins a bit slowly, but soon picks up the pace. It is not, however, an easy read. It takes patience and perseverance; and the language is often obsolete and stilted. Nevertheless, it is a treasure trove of information on reincarnation, astrology, karma, light, symbolism, energy, metaphysics, gods and goddesses, individuation, romance, lions, sexuality, the rewards of personal evolution, and the pitfalls of chelaship (discipleship). Rightly considered a classic, it is something of a must read for those would counterbalance standard Western Egyptology with esoteric insight.
