While anyone can look up the gifts online, this book sets itself apart with incredible information. Not only is it theologically accurate but they took time to do actual studies on todays people in different ages groups nonetheless. It includes great volunteer positions in the church for your gift as well as work options. Also includes self scoring for each gift and aspect of the gifts.I love how easy the concepts are to understand and the thought and research behind everything. Clearly this is important stuff I've been missing out on!You need to find your gift and this is the book to do it with
Biblically based. Not really a personality typing kind of book, but rather strengths we all have and the degrees with which they work in our lives.. It helps one to understand not only themselves but others and especially helpful in giving much needed grace on both ends. Highly recommend.
This book will change your life whether you follow God or not.Includes tests to find what talents, strengths you were born with, notsubsequently taught. More of a workbook than a treatise.Is your current job matching your gift? Do I have a gift for helping peopleand am trying to be an administrator? Why do I or do I not look forward togoing to work each day?With any book written to guide you, there are spots you will think you could have written better,but the Fortunes' actually wrote it. Simplifies a huge topic.
This is an interesting treatise. It may be somewhat helpful for learning about some of the things that may be characteristics of others. Unfortunately, i think it would be more helpful if the descriptions were not associated with each of the giftings so that one could take the tests without being influenced by the type of gifting being tested. In other words, if the questions were random, the reader would possibly be less influenced by "desiring to be" and may be able to answer more objectively.
While this is a very well-written book, the method used is seriously flawed. Any type of questionnaire/survey method for discovering spiritual gifts has the same flaw. What is that flaw? If a person who is not a Christian took the survey it would still indicate they a spiritual gift or gifts. This is impossible since the relevant passages of Scripture indicate that only believers have them. Some would argue that no lost person would take the survey. And while that is possible it is irrelevant. If the method gives a false positive for those who are not believers it can give the same type of false positive to believers. The survey basically takes into account preferences, personal strengths and talents and translates those to spiritual gifts. But they are not the same thing. From a Biblical standpoint, discovery of spiritual gifts is a process of ministry accompanied by mentoring and oversight of spiritually mature leaders. It is not a matter of filling out a survey and "There you have it."
This is really an excellent book especially if you have recently taken a spiritual assessment and you would like to go more in depth about the characteristics and possible roles associated with your spiritual gift (s). It allows the reader to not only see what work they can pursue in ministry but what they typically gravitate to career wise and for me it was spot on.I shared this book with others members of my small group class at my church.
This book should be in every Christian home because it is essential to know your gifting and how that gift operates in your day to day life and relationships. The test was laborious but well worth it and accurate. Being able to identify the pros and cons with each gift and how the gifts coincide with other gifts gave me a better understanding of my husband and children. More importantly it gave me a better understanding of me.
This book is a must for individual or small group study, every parent & every employer or Volunteer coordinator should be on their required reading list! I have walked through it with two small groups at my church now! Truth rooted in the word with a deeper understanding of your purpose on this earth, why you do what you do, and what jobs & Volunteer work you'll be more effective &fulfilled in...God, will always give you what you need when u are lacking in strengths, but it is eye-opening to understand what part of the body of Christ you were meant to be from day 1! Love this read-always points back to scripture, really easy read!
